Fridays during the school term — 6.00pm to 7.30pm
Vertical is our Junior Youth group for Year 6–8 students. It’s a fun, safe, high‑energy space where kids can hang out, build friendships, and explore big questions about life and values in a relaxed, friendly environment. Each week includes games, food, and conversations designed specifically for this age group.
What to Expect
- Fun games and team challenges
- A chance to connect with friends or make new ones
- A short talk exploring life, values, and positive choices with a Biblical Perspective.
- Supper (usually something simple)
- Leaders who care, listen, and create a positive environment
Vertical is designed to help young people grow in:
- Confidence
- Social connection
- Resilience
- A sense of belonging
- Positive identity and values
Who’s It For?
All Year 6–8 students in the Welcome Bay community — everyone is welcome.
In Term 4, we also open the doors to our upcoming Year 5 friends.
We typically have 15–25 young people attending each week and are steadily growing.
Why Vertical Matters
Intermediate‑aged kids are navigating big changes — socially, emotionally, and personally. Many families in our community are looking for safe, positive, low‑cost activities where their children can connect and thrive.
Vertical provides:
- A safe place to belong
- Positive role models
- Healthy social interaction
- Fun, structured activities
- Supportive relationships with caring adults
We aim to remove barriers so every young person can participate, regardless of background or family circumstances.
Who Leads Vertical?
Vertical is run by Aaron, Abbey, and our awesome volunteer junior youth leaders.
All leaders are police-vetted and follow our Child Safety standards.
We care about creating a safe, positive space where all kids can thrive.
When and Where
Fridays, 6.00–7.30pm during the school term.
We meet at the Welcome Bay School Hall, just around the corner from the church. (We usually take a break on long weekends.)
Cost
Vertical is free to attend — we never want cost to be a barrier for any young person.
Occasionally there may be a small cost for away trips or special events.
There are real costs involved in running the programme (food, equipment, resources, activities, and venue hire). If you’re able, we invite families to make a voluntary donation to help keep Vertical running well.
Thank you for partnering with us to invest in the lives of young people in our community.
Register
Registration helps us keep young people safe and communicate event updates to families.
