WBBC Youth
A safe, welcoming place for young people in Years 9–13
WBBC Youth is a community‑based youth programme based in Welcome Bay, and welcoming young people from the surrounding areas.
The programme provides a safe, positive environment where young people can connect with peers, build friendships, and be part of a supportive community outside of school hours.
Who WBBC Youth Is For
WBBC Youth is open to young people in school years 9–13.
Young people attend for a range of reasons, including:
- Spending time in a supervised, positive environment
- Building friendships and social confidence
- Being part of a welcoming community
- Enjoying fun weekly activities and special events
- Exploring values and faith in a way that is voluntary and age‑appropriate
Young people are welcome whether they regularly attend church or not.
When and Where Youth Happens
Sunday Night Youth Hub (during the school term)
The core Youth night runs every Sunday evening during the school term.
Youth Hub nights:
- Run weekly
- Include food provided by the programme
- Are relaxed, welcoming, and fully optional
- Focus on providing a safe and positive space for connection and community
A typical Youth Hub night includes games, group activities, time to socialise, food together, and discussions that create space for young people to explore questions around life, values, and faith. Participation in all discussions is completely voluntary.
Events and Other Activities
Alongside Sunday Youth Hub nights, the programme includes optional social events such as:
- Bowling nights
- Movie evenings
- Meals and social gatherings
- Other recreational outings
These events may take place on other days or at different times, as appropriate, and are primarily about fun, connection, and strengthening relationships.
Our Values and Approach
At its core, WBBC Youth is about providing a safe, positive space where young people can belong, connect, and grow.
Our approach is intentionally:
- Relational – focused on connection and building friendships
- Inclusive – young people engage at their own comfort level
- Voluntary – no pressure to participate in any activity or discussion
- Community‑focused – open and welcoming to local young people
Faith is part of the wider context of the programme, but conversations are respectful, age‑appropriate, and optional. Young people are encouraged to explore, ask questions, or simply listen.
Safety and Wellbeing
The wellbeing of young people is a priority at WBBC Youth.
Parents can be confident that:
- Youth activities are supervised by responsible adult leaders
- All volunteers follow established child protection procedures
- Leaders are accountable through Welcome Bay Church
Our aim is to provide a safe, supportive environment where young people feel respected, included, and cared for.
For Parents and Caregivers
WBBC Youth exists to support young people at a key stage of life by offering a positive, relational environment where they can build friendships and feel connected.
